Numerical simulation of laser-plasma interaction using explicit, hybrid and quasistatic codes are discussed. Different numerical schemes for solving Maxwell-Vlasov system of equations are analyzed. Particularly, the issues of numerical dispersion, stability and efficiency are highlighted. Applications to plasma-based particle acceleration, energy transfer in dense plasmas and short-wavelength radiation generation are presented.
